	National Public Health Surveillance Laboratory (NPHSL) is the state budget organization, founded on the first of July, 2003 by The State Public Health Service under the Ministry of Health.
On the request of government institutions, municipalities, private and public legal and natural persons NPHSL tests air at dwelling places and work places, sewage, bathing-place and drinking water, food and non-food products, cosmetics and personal hygiene products, materials and products, which are in direct contact with food, biocides, detergents, chemical products for household and performs other person and public healthcare laboratory tests. The laboratory carries out required person and public healthcare microbiological, parasitological, immunological, immunoenzymatic, serological, hematological, chemical, toxicological, physical, molecular test and other environmental and general/diagnostic clinical laboratory tests. The laboratory carries out testing of electromagnetic radiation, noise and vibration. It also supplies mandatory health training, professional risks testing and evaluation services. Laboratory is accredited by the German accreditation service. Quality control department  and Microbiological production media department are certified according to the quality standard LTS EN ISO 9001:2001. Quality control department performs culture media quality control using 97 reference strains.
